Treatment of Timber Rot

Establish the full extent of the outbreak, which may initially be concealed from everyday view i.e. under floor boards, in roof voids and even behind household furniture.

All affected timbers need to be cut out and removed including 300 - 450mm beyond the infected area to allow for possible further contamination.

All surrounding timbers should be treated with a chemical biocide, to ensure all strands/spores are killed off.

Where wet rot decay is found, the surrounding area should be protected from any moisture source or leaks, raw timbers paint protected and adequate ventilation established.
